Charlottes Travel Diary

Today mum spent up until lunchtime working. After, we went to Busselton jetty. Harry forgot his thongs so after everyone after him had got out, he said “I forgot my shoes”. We had to drive back, get him his shoes then drive back to the jetty. We went to a restaurant for lunch. After that we went on the jetty train. When we arrived at the observatory window, we got a tour. Each window went down a different stage of the jetty. We saw lots of crabs and fish and coral. I brought a toy dolphin. Then we caught the train back and went grocery shopping.

Today we drove to Busselton. It was quite a long way. Busselton is famous for the 1.8km jetty.  At the end there is an aquarium. More like an observatory but underwater. We are staying at a Big 4 van park and there is a jumping pillow.

Today we went to Rottnest Island. I felt sick on the boat. The boat trip took 45 minutes from Hilarys boat harbour. When we arrived we bought a bus ticket. After that we went to a museum where Emily spotted a quokka. We caught a bus around the island. We didn’t hop off, you would of but you didn’t have to. Then we went on a quokka tour where we spotted lots of quokkas.  A quokka is a bit like a really mini kangaroo.  Then we went to a waterpark. We had half an hour there. There were some year 6-7 kids on there but the man that owned it gave us an extra 10mins. I got the sick bands on the way back and I didn’t feel sick on the boat.

Today we went back to Scitech. It has lots of good science experiments. There was one display with fake smoke, a heater and crackling noises. It was to show you what it would be like in a real fire.  We went into the Planetarium where there was a moving ceiling. It was quite freaky actually. We learnt alot about space and the pictures you can see in the night sky. We also learnt what happens when astronauts take off from earth. When we were finished we went to Harbourtown where we got some lunch. After that we went to the maritime museum and we had a look around. Then we went on a tour in a real submarine. There were alot of enclosed spaces. You had to go to bed and wear seatbelt. Yes, a seatbelt in bed. The reason being that if you fell out of bed, enemy or other ships could locate you from the sound you’d make. I brought a crystal and a stand from the shop

Today we went to the aquarium of WA. There was a moving footpath there. It had stingrays and sharks swim over your head. It was really weird. After, we went to Scitech. It was awesome. There were so many experiments in fact that we are coming back tomorrow. I will tell you about it then.

Today we went to the bell tower. We didn’t go in it because it costs lots of money. Harry and Emily got a coin from there. After, we went to the Perth Mint. We saw a man pouring gold. We also saw lots of gold bars. Mum and dad got us each a coin made with a map of Australia and our name on it. Then we went shopping. We had dinner there because we were there until 7:30pm.

Today we packed up and drove to the middle of Perth where we are staying at a much nicer caravan park. We went to Kings park where we did a tour and there were lots of wild flowers. We walked around the gardens and did the elevated walkway. It was a bit disappointing. Then we went to an adventure playground where mum and dad had a coffee. We got an ice cream. There was a hole that a pole went through through the middle of the playground.  It was fun. Then we went and had fish and chips at Cottesloe beach. Cottesloe beach is famous because a man got eaten by a shark there the week before. We didn’t go for a swim because he was eaten by a shark and it was cold.

Today we spent most of our day at the maritime museum. There are so many old coins on ship wrecks. There are 2 sides to the museum. The side where the ship sunk and the other side. We only got to do one side today.  We went to a cafe and we had nice coffee and cake. Then, the other museum was closed, so we went back to the van park and played and had dinner.

Today it is dad’s birthday. In the morning we opened his presents. Mum worked all day but we played at the van park and then we went grocery shopping. Then we went back and played until mum was ready to go out for dinner. We went to the Mussel Bar in Fremantle for dinner. I had fish and chips and Harry and Emily had pasta. It was really yummy.

Today we went shopping for dads birthday present. I found the book I’ve been looking for for ages. It is called Inkspell. Then we went to a play called Bach to the future. It was a play full of classical music. It was the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. We went and saw them at the concert hall in Perth. There was a function on there as well and there was alot of other people.
